Apollo Dialysis Clinics Hosts Kidney Health CME Programme at DAE Kalpakkam

 

Apollo Dialysis Clinics, in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), successfully conducted a Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme at DAE Kalpakkam to raise awareness and share knowledge on kidney care and dialysis-related issues among the fraternity.

CME programmes are designed to keep doctors and healthcare professionals up to date with the latest medical practices. This session focused on key aspects of kidney health and was attended by over 40 medical professionals, including general physicians and specialists. The platform served as a learning forum and helped in building awareness around managing kidney diseases more effectively.

The event began with a welcome address by Dr. Mathew P. Alex, Consultant/SAG, and Dr. Meena Nair, Medical Superintendent. Two experienced nephrologists from Apollo Dialysis led the clinical sessions as below:

·         Dr. Venkatesh Rajkumar spoke on “Incidentally Detected High Creatinine – How to Proceed?” and shared crucial steps for early diagnosis and proper management of kidney function issues.

·         Dr. Shakti Ram delivered a session on “Dialysis Related Complications and their management,” offering practical tips on handling challenges during dialysis and ensuring patient safety.

The session also included introductions by Dr. Sreedevi, Consultant/SOF, and ended with a vote of thanks from Dr. Shoba Ranganathan, Consultant/SAG.

These directional billboards, filtered by pincodes, point people to 80 distinct spots. A cultural curation of iconic landmarks, pop-culture legends, sub-cultures, food spots and parks, the campaign doubles up as a travel guide for all things Tamil Nadu. The print leg goes further with 13 district-specific creatives - each a starter pack to that city’s hidden gems.

This pincode approach to hyperlocal campaigns isn’t new for Britannia. Commenting on the intent for going so deep into the state’s cultural fabric, Siddharth Gupta, General Manager at Britannia, says, “Britannia Milk Bikis is part of Tamil Nadu’s traditions for generations, with close to 50% households consuming it every month during moments shared with their loved ones. Malaysia Tourism invites Tamil Nadu Higher Education institutions to Pursue World-Class Education

A special symposium titled “Study Malaysia Academic Connect 2025” was held at the Malaysian Tourism Office located at Kodambakkam Road, Nungambakkam, Chennai on Thursday (27th) morning.

The event, organized by Malaysia Tourism in collaboration with Study Malaysia and ITK. Global Education, was presided over by Hishamuddin Mustafa, Director of Tourism Malaysia for South India and Sri Lanka. Tourism Malaysia Marketing Officer Syed welcomed the participants.

 Alpha Arts and Science College, Porur, run by the Alpha Educational Society, celebrated their 25^th anniversary Silver Jubilee Celebration along with 22^nd Graduation Day celebration on 23^rd March 2022 at The Music Academy.

The evening was made extra special with the presence of Thiru. Vikram Kapur, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Planning and Development Department, Govt. of Tamil Nadu who delivered the keynote and gave away the citations to the young graduates. During the ceremony 718 students of the 22^nd batch of students were graduated, and prizes were distributed to the Winners of the prestigious Awards for Best Outgoing students.

The graduation day ceremony was also attended by Dr. Sultan Ahmed Ismail, Member, State Planning Commission, Tamil Nadu, Dr. K. Saleem Ali, IPS (Rtd.) Former Member of National Disaster Management Authority, DGP of Tripura & Special Director of CBI, Dr. (Mrs.) Grace George, Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions and Mrs. Suja George, Vice Chairperson, Alpha Group of Institutions.

While addressing the students, Thiru. Hypertension (High Blood Pressure) is the 3^rd most common cause of death & disability affecting approximately 20 crore people in India currently. Out of this 20 crore affected people, only 1/3^rd of them are aware of this & 1/3^rd of the people aware of it is only under control. LifeCell’s pioneering efforts in community cord blood banking wins accolades from IAP

Indian Academy of Paediatrics (IAP) that is committed to health and well-bring of all children today shared its appreciation for LifeCell’s pioneering works in community cord blood banking. With the recent success of India’s first dual cord blood transplant, the medical body acknowledged community cord blood banking as a novel, life-saving measure and also reiterated the need for private organizations timely support in enabling path-breaking treatment modalities that are beneficial to the society.

Community Cord Blood Banking, a unique and innovative stem cell banking initiative that was introduced by LifeCell in 2017, helped save a seven-year-old girl suffering from aplastic anaemia – a rare and serious blood disorder when all other possible treatments failed. A team of senior doctors from LOTUS Institute of Haematology, Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, successfully conducted a double-unit cord blood transplant to save the life of Child from Nashik, Maharashtra.

Venkataeswara Hospitals, proudly announces the timely diagnosis and efficient treatment of a 64 - year old woman, a known patient of Coronary artery disease, Systemic Hypertension, Diabetes mellitus and other multiple co-morbidities.  She was initially admitted with left upper and lower limb numbness and weakness, headache and shortness of breath and on evaluation she was found to have acute stroke - right PCA territory infarct.  On further evaluation ECHO revealed large LA myxoma measuring - 3.8 x 2.7cm attached to IAS (Inter Atrial Septum).  The Cardiothoracic surgeon advised excision of left atrial myxoma.  She was critically ill and treated for severe Urinary tract infection with Septicemia, Anemia, Coronary Artery Disease, Acute Stroke, Hypertension, Uncontrolled Diabetes and she was stabilized with medications and after stabilization, the patient was taken up for  Excision of Myxoma on 05.01.2021.  The post procedure was eventful and now she is able to attend routine daily activities. Atrial myxomas are the primary heart tumors because of non specific symptoms, hence early diagnosis may be a challenge. Annual incidence is about 1 in 20millions individuals.  Left atrial myxoma may not produce characteristic findings on auscultation. Two dimensional echocardiography, is the diagnostic modality of choice.  If undetected and untreated, these patients may land up with sudden cardiac arrest or even sudden death or multiple systemic or cerebral embolism and stroke.  Myxoma accounts for 50% of primary cardiac tumors.  Most patients are sporadic and the exact etiology is not known

No known medical treatment exists for atrial myxoma. Drug therapy is used only for complication such as Stroke, Heart Failure, CHF (Congestive Heart Failure), Cardiac arrhythmias, etc. Operative resection is the treatment of choice for long term prognosis which is excellent.

Recently Ramkatha has been successfully completed at  Bhagwat Bhumi Shukratal where all Corona related protocols were strictly adhered

Danushkodi is an ancient and famous Hindu pilgrimage place. It is located on the eastern coast of the state of Tamil Nadu, near the southern edge of Rameswaram and near Pamban. The neighboring country Sri Lanka is just 20 kilometers away from this site. Its history is of Ramayana period. It is said that from here Lord Sri Rama started the construction work of the bridge to reach Lanka.

According to religious texts and beliefs, when Lord Shri Ram started returning with Sita after conquering Lanka, the newly appointed Lankapati Vibhishan prayed to Shri Ram that if this bridge built by you remained like this then in future any king from India will attack my Lanka. At the request of Vibhishan, Shriram Ji broke the bridge. This gave the place its name Dhanushkodi.
